First Look At Alfre Woodard In Gripping Death Row Drama ‘Clemency’

Alfre Woodard has been earning rave reviews for her role as a disillusioned prison warden in “Clemency”, and a new trailer offers a look at new psychological thriller from director Chinonye Chukwu.

“Years of carrying out death row executions have taken a toll on prison warden Bernadine Williams (Woodard),” reads the film’s synopsis. “As she prepares to execute another inmate, Bernadine must confront the psychological and emotional demons her job creates, ultimately connecting her to the man she is sanctioned to kill.”

Woodard is already garnering Oscar buzz for her performance of a prison warden who winds up forming a unique bond with death-row inmate Anthony Woods (Aldis Hodge), forcing her to confront the complexities of being given the legal power to end someone’s life.
