It’s been nearly five years since the “House Party” singer quickly rose to fame with his debut album Montevello, which had four No. 1 platinum-certified singles, and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.

“For a couple years it was pretty intense, it was a drastic change of pace and drastic lifestyle shift,” says the singer on stepping back from music.

Hunt married his wife Hannah Lee Fowler during an intimate ceremony in his hometown of Cedartown, Georgia, in 2017, which he says was part of the reason for his much-needed break.

“I got to the point where I didn’t feel like I was smelling the roses cuz it was happening so fast, so I stepped back and digested everything that happened.”

Hunt says getting married was a big decision as he had concerns whether his lifestyle would support it, but he wanted to focus on his relationship before getting back out there musically.

But the singer hasn’t kept completely quiet since Montevello. He released “Downtown’s Dead” in 2018 and followed it with “Body Like a Back Road”, which topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 34 weeks.

Self-awareness is key for Hunt, who says he’s still trying to figure out fame and what comes with it: “It’s a learning process, I never wanted to come across as ungrateful because I’m super-grateful for people spending their hard-earned money supporting us.

“They’ve changed my life and given me a future with my wife and my family.”

After his “reboot”, the singer says he cannot wait to get back out there and put out his next album. He even gave fans a sneak peek of his new single “Sinning With You” at the Bud Light House Party Thursday.

On the development of the new album, Hunt says, “We’ve gone in and recorded four songs, I’ve got several more to record.”

The singer is known for erasing boundaries in country music with his cross-genre hits, and says he’ll continue to put out his more light-hearted songs but will add some reflective tracks to balance it out.

Hunt confirms the new album will be out within the first few months of 2020, with the single released by the end of this year.
