Kit Harington addressed that “Game of Thrones” finale backlash after their big Emmys outstanding drama series win Sunday night.
Harington, who played Jon Snow in the much-loved show, said when asked about how the cast dealt with controversy: “I’ll take this one.
“Controversy. I still haven’t seen the show, so that’s how I dealt with that controversy.”
He added in a press room video shared by Deadline: “I haven’t seen the final season, but I know what it took to shoot it and it was hard, and everyone put all of their love and effort into it. Controversy for us — we knew what we were doing was right story wise and we knew that it was right for the characters because we lived with them for ten years. Controversy for us — didn’t really effect us.”
Many fans weren’t happy with the way the show ended, and Bran Stark being crowned the King of Westeros.
David Benioff said of the ending: “It was always going to be Bran as the king at the end.”
Showrunner D.B. Weiss added of how he wants people to remember the show: “It’s not really up for us to decide what people feel about it. We hope that they watch it and like it in the future. There’s no way to tell.
“The landscape of television changes so quickly; it’s changing right now as we’re standing here. It’s so gratifying to have reached this many people. We hope the people who are a little bit too young will grow up to watch it as well.”
