Jonah Hill no longer seems likely to play a villain in “The Batman” — but a certain “Seinfeld” star says he’s ready and able.
The new caped crusader movie, directed by Matt Reeves, was reportedly interested in acquiring Hill’s services, with the “Moneyball” actor said to in talks to play a yet-to-be-identified villain in “The Batman” — per Deadline.
However, a subsequent Deadline report on Wednesday claims those talks have broken down. While Hill had been under consideration to play either Riddler or Penguin, producers are reported to be already exploring other candidates.
Following reports that Hill wouldn’t be portraying the Penguin, “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander took to Twitter to declare himself the obvious choice.
“Clearly the next move for Penguin has to be someone familiar with marine biology. Ahem,” he tweeted, referencing one of George Costanza’s finest moments.
There seems to be renewed interest in Warner Bros. superhero movies following the critical success of “Joker” starring Joaquin Phoenix. “The Batman” will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, who doubles as the titular character. Jeffrey Wright is reportedly locked in for the role of Commissioner James Gordon, while Zoe Kravitz will be playing Catwoman and Paul Dano cast as the Riddler opposite Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader.
“The Batman” premieres June 25, 2021.
