Last week Shields confirmed that she was at one point considered to replace Elisabeth Hasselbeck on “The View”, but the producers went with Jenny McCarthy instead.
Appearing on “Watch What Happens Live” on Tuesday, McCarthy responded to the revelation after a caller said Shields came off as “snotty.”
“I didn’t think it was snotty,” McCarthy said. “I’m friends with her, I love her, and I think she knows deep inside that I took one for the team.”
She added of her experience on the daytime talk show, “Let’s just face it, that was hell, so you’re welcome Brooke.”
Appearing last week “Watch What Happens Live”, Shields was asked by a caller whether it is true that she almost became a co-host on “The View”.
“Yes,” the actress confirmed.
“I went through a week of being on the show. You know, I did all my homework. I take everything very seriously,” she recalled. “And then they called me one day and I was directing Chicago at the Hollywood Bowl. I’m in the parking lot and I get a call from the producer and he says, ‘We’ve decided to go with Jenny McCarthy.'”
