Noah Cyrus, 19, is showcasing her powerhouse vocals.
In the newly released ballad, “Lonely”, the singer gets real about her state of mind, a follow up single to this summer’s “July”.
Written by Cyrus herself, Billy Ray Cyrus’ youngest daughter sings the emotional lyrics, “I’m slowly killing myself/I’m trying so hard at the back of the shelf,” she sings. “It’s just the same every day/I’m writing these songs that will never get played.”
And while singing about how her lifestyle drags her away from her family, a choir joins in taking the tune to the next level.
“’Lonely’ came to me during a really dark time in my life and is about self struggle and feeling out of place,” Cyrus said in a statement. “But the amazing thing is that it put me on the path to getting help and I hope it does the same for my fans who need it.”
While there’s no word on a full-length album from Cyrus, she has promised fans more music in the coming months.
