Roth, 64, thinks Van Halen is finished as a group but has hopes for future individual projects. The rocker shared the news while promoting his own Las Vegas residency with Detroit radio station WRIF.

“That’s been cancelled a number of times,” Roth said of a rumoured Van Halen tour. “I think Van Halen’s finished, and this [residency] is the next phase.”

“I’ve inherited the band de facto — whatever that means. I think it means if you inherit it, carry this proudly,” he continued. “Van Halen isn’t gonna be coming back in the fashion that you know. And that being said, Eddie’s [Van Halen] got his own story to tell. [It’s] not mine to tell it.”

Roth’s nine-show residency is hosted at the House of Blues Las Vegas. It kicks off with three shows in January and six more gigs in March.
