Delpy, 49, revealed to Variety at the Zurich Film Festival how she faced a similar challenge when shooting the “Before” trilogy. She received “maybe a tenth” of co-star Ethan Hawke’s pay for “Before Sunrise” and “half” of Hawke’s salary for “Before Sunset”.

By the third film “Before Midnight”, “I said, ‘Listen, guys, if I’m not paid the same, I’m not doing it.'”

Speaking of the “Before” franchise. Delpy quickly put to rest any thoughts of a fourth instalment.

“I think we’re done now with [it] but we went back to it every nine years,” she said. “It was an interesting study of a 20-year-old falling in love, a 30-year-old falling in love again, and then at early 40s how to sustain that love. It’s really about the relationship.”

Delpy is currently promoting the sci-fi family drama “My Zoe”.
