The story of “Doctor Sleep” will explore the aftermath of “The Shining” and how it has traumatized Danny Torrance.

Ewan McGregor plays a grown-up Danny, the adorable boy at the centre of “The Shining”. A new featurette from Warner Bros. has McGregor, author Stephen King and director Mike Flanagan setting the scene for the upcoming horror film.
Much of the film will focus on Danny’s alcoholism, fueled by an urge to suppress his psychic abilities and drown his memories of The Overlook Hotel. He hits rock bottom before turning to a journey of recovery, leading him to a young girl with similar powers.

King hypes up “Doctor Sleep” as a worthy successor to “The Shining” and a story worth telling. “Doctor Sleep” premieres Nov. 8.
