Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch Star In Sam Mendes’ Single-Take Approach To WWI In ‘1917’

Sam Mendes is trying a new approach to World War I film making.

In the new trailer for his WWI thriller, “1917”, George MacKay (“Where Hands Touch”) and Dean-Charles Chapman (“Game of Thrones”’ Tommen Baratheon) star as two young soldiers embarking on a mission to cross enemy territory to deliver a message that could stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.

But what’s different about Mendes’ flick is his single-take approach, similar to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rope” and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s “Birdman”.

The flick also stars acting heavyweights like Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Mark Strong and Andrew Scott.

“1917” hits big screens Christmas Day.
