The duo appeared on Global’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to talk about “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot” and working together for 25 years.

Looking back on their first film, 1994’s “Clerks”, Mewes recalled that the film was shot in black and white for cost reasons, not out of any creative choice.

“I always have to say that because I don’t want anyone thinking it was creative,” he joked.

Colbert also pointed out that Smith is one of the most talkative guests he’s ever had on the show, and wondered why he was playing Silent Bob.

Mewes explained, “It’s because he wanted to be in the movie but not have to memorize dialogue.”

Smith also revealed that later this month, he and Mewes will be putting their handprints into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
