Priyanka Chopra is sharing her excitement after Nick Jonas was announced as the newest coach on season 18 of “The Voice”.
Joining Hoda Kotb Tuesday on “Today” in promotion of her new romantic drama “The Sky Is Pink”, which premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, the 37-year-old actress says that her husband will be a “competitive” coach, joking, “Blake [Shelton], you better watch out!”
Revealing that she knew about his new gig “way before anyone else,” Chopra contends, “It’s super exciting. I think Nick just needs to be himself, which he’s going to. He knows about music so much. He’s literally been a music prodigy since he was seven years old. So, I think it will be amazing to see him working with new musicians and adding to that.”
Chopra adds that when Jonas is not busy working, he sings and plays the piano to her in the mornings.
“I’m getting dressed to that. It’s just amazing,” she says, noting that she loves when he sings the Jonas Brothers’ “I Believe” because he wrote that song before their wedding. “When he’s singing it live — even when I’m watching it on the show every time, I hear it. I know where those words come from.”
Discussing returning to India to film “The Sky Is Pink”, Chopra reveals that she was tied up shooting the film just “four days” before her extravagant three-day wedding to Jonas in December 2018 for which her fiance handled all the arrangements.
“Nick came down about 20 days before [the wedding] to India and said, ‘You focus on your work and I will take care of the prep,'” she says. “So I just wore my amazing outfits and arrived at my own wedding because Nick and my mom handled all of it.”
Meanwhile, Chopra recalls how fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg disclosed to her in a recent interview for her YouTube series that her best piece of advice was to have children.
Disclosing her reaction, Chopra says, “I can’t wait. I really can’t wait. I mean, there’s so much that happens in our lives, but whenever God blesses us with this — it’s something that we both definitely want.”
