The Notorious B.I.G.‘s ‘Juicy’ Tops BBC’s New Poll Of Greatest Hip-Hop Tracks Ever

More than 20 years since his death, the hip-hop legacy of Notorious B.I.G. lives on.

In a new poll created by the BBC, Biggie Small’s mega-hit “Juicy” has been voted the greatest hip-hop track ever.

According to BBC, over 100 critics, experts and artists — including the likes of Common and Slick Rick — offered their opinions in order to compile the list, which was released Tuesday.

B.I.G.’s “Juicy” takes the top spot while Public Enemy’s 1989 chart-topper “Fight The Power” lands in second place, with Mobb Deep’s “Shook Ones (Part II)” in third.

The list also features such artists as Kanye West and Queen Latifah.

Those enlisted to vote chose from a list of 280 songs to curate the top 20. West’s “Runaway” is the most recent track, released in 2010.

In a detailed look at the vote, Common’s top five songs were: “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five (1982), “Scenario” by A Tribe Called Quest (1991), “Juicy” by The Notorious B.I.G. (1994), “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)” by Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth (1992) and “Doo Wop (That Thing)” by Lauryn Hill (1998).
