Jada Pinkett Smith hasn’t lent out her image to many commercials promoting particular products, but she’s willing to make an exception when that product is Just Water, brainchild of her son, Jaden Smith, and husband, Will Smith.
In a hilarious new ad for the water brand she posted on Instagram, the “Girls Trip” star is rocking a skimpy bathing suit while cavorting seductively on a tropical beach, accompanied by her dramatic voiceover.
And while her reading may be serious, what she’s reading is anything but.
“What’s my secret?” intones the voiceover as the “Red Table Talk” star, 48, emerges from the ocean, holding a container of Just Water. “A seahorse gave me this. My secrets are gathered by the whispers of a babbling brook.”
After splashing some of the water in her face, she’s then seen standing under a shower of cascading water.
“Why am I showering outside? I don’t do it for the trend, I don’t do it ’cause it’s cool, I do it because it’s life,” the voiceover continues.
“This line is a placeholder,” she continues. “Sip my secret — and sip it again.”
Things get even more bonkers when the camera zooms in inches away from her neck. “This shot is too close,” followed by “This shot is too far,” as the close-up is suddenly replaced by an aerial view.
“This is my booty,” she says as the camera focuses on her derriere. “Who’s playing the violin?” she adds, referencing the musical accompaniment.
“No JUST water was wasted in the filming of this,” reads a tagline at the end of the clip. “No empty JUST cartons were left on the beach, and all were recycled.”
Will and Jaden Smith launched the eco-friendly water brand last year, and the “Aladdin” star explained the philosophy behind the product in an interview with Associated Press.
“We did not want this to be a celebrity brand,” he explained. “We’re just about to launch our second product and we felt like there were enough people who already have accepted the brand and it wouldn’t look like celebrities trying to sell some water.”
