John Legend Serenades ‘The Voice’ Contestant In An Attempt To Recruit Her

John Legend is pulling out all the stops to fill the last spot on his team.

“The Voice” hopeful Zoe Upkins caught every coach’s attention with her impressive cover of Monica’s “Angel of Mine”. Her performance almost immediately led to a bidding war among the coaches.

“You showed so much polish for your age, and you still have room to grow, but you were really fantastic. Are your parents in music at all?” John Legend asked. “I only have one slot on my team as well and it would be so much fun for me to work with you.”

“‘The Voice’ is hard,” Blake Shelton argued. “I mean this is going to push you. I think it would be smart for you to choose a coach that has been here since Day 1 … I know I don’t seem like, on paper, the coach for you. I promise I’m the coach for you, Zoe.”

In an attempt to sway Upkins, Legend started singing Monica and Brandy’s “The Boy is Mine” with a twist.

“You need to give it up, I’ve had about enough/She belongs to me, Zoe is mine,” Legend sang at the tail end of the teaser.
