Fan’s Pitch-Perfect NSFW ‘Succession’ Parody Video Goes Viral

In HBO’s critically acclaimed dramedy “Succession”, the adult children of elderly media mogul Logan Roy (Brian Cox) compete to be named his successor in hopes he’ll hand them the reins of the company — only to be completely frustrated by his ultimate refusal to entrust them with anything.

But what if they weren’t vying for control of the Roy media empire, but instead were trying to get their greedy little paws on their dad’s bag of M&Ms?

That’s the premise of a hilarious (and decidedly NSFW) video that Los Angeles stock trader Ben Cahn posted on Twitter, featuring him doing pitch-perfect imitations of all the show’s main characters as they scheme to get their father’s candy.

The video quickly went viral, and has garnered more than 1.9 million views within one day of being posted on Twitter (and, reminder: NSFW!):

“To come up with the premise of the sketch, I was thinking, ‘Okay, what could they be doing? Obviously they want something from Logan,’” Cahn tells Rolling Stone of how he came up with the idea. “So I decided to break it down in the most childish way possible, because they behave like children sometimes, and what’s more childish than wanting candy from your dad?”

Enlisting his friend Shane McAvoy to help write and shoot the video, Cahn shot and edited the clip on Friday, but waited until Sunday — the day the season-two finale of “Succession” aired — to post it.

According to Cahn, he didn’t bother checking his notifications for a few hours until he eventually looked at his phone “and freaked out because I saw [comedian] Mike Birbiglia retweeted me.”

According to Cahn, the show’s appeal is universal, given that most families have various levels of dysfunction.

“It’s family drama and for those of us who have s**tty family members there’s a lot to identify with: the gaslighting parent, the manipulative siblings,” he tells RS. “We can identify with each character in our own f**ked-up ways” — whether you’re Daddy’s #1 Candy Baby or not.”
