“The Sinner” has just released the trailer for its 2020 third season. The show is based on a Petra Hammesfahr novel of the same name.
The show was originally produced to be a one-time eight-episode miniseries. But after the show received such a positive reception, garnering Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, the show has continued into a second, and now third season.
In the first season, we were introduced to Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman), who becomes obsessed with solving a mystery; why Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel, who is also the executive producer of the show) killed a man but has no recollection of doing so.
During the second season Ambrose heads back his hometown, Keller in upstate New York, after a young boy Julian Walker (Elisha Henig) confesses to the murder of a couple.
It appears that the third season follows Ambrose in an investigation of a case that results in a fatal car crash. The trailer introduces Matt Bomer as a man involved in the accident, and Chris Messina.
The new season will be released on Showcase in Canada in 2020.
