Eva Mendes visited “The Kelly Clarkson Show” to promote her New York & Company clothing line and talk motherhood.

Mendes and Ryan Gosling have two children — Esmeralda, born in 2014, and Amada Lee, born in 2016. Mendes shares that she had no idea how many hard skills she would need to develop for the role of “mother.”

Mendes says as a mother you need to be “a chauffeur, a cook, a personal assistant to an abusive boss,” adding, “People are so sweet — they really try to warn you, prep you, when you’re pregnant, but nobody can prep you. Nobody.”

Clarkson, who also has two small children, asks Mendes what’s the most difficult part about being a mother. The actor and fashion designer doesn’t miss a beat, responding “Snacks!” She elaborates, saying it’s hard to keep up with the amount and variety of snacks that are constantly required.

Clarkson asks Mendes what has changed about her style since having children. Mendes, who is sporting one of her pieces, emphasizes that the fashion line is comfort-first.

Some of Clarkson’s audience members were also model some of Mendes’ staples.
