Jensen Ackles certainly knows how to get an engine started.
The “Supernatural” actor was Grand Marshal of NASCAR’s Hollywood Casino 400 in Kansas City, Kansas, on Sunday and got the race started with a rousing rendition of the famous call for drivers to “start your engines!”
Ackles spoke with 41 Action News about his trip to the NASCAR track, saying, “I’m here to embarrass myself as much as I possibly can. I have three children and I think that’s a dad’s duty to embarrass himself.”
Ackles added that his “son is pretty stoked about the race,” and that he’s “excited to see what he thinks of all this when I get back home.”
Ackles was joined by father, Alan, who was celebrating his 71st birthday and his first NASCAR race.
The trip to Kansas was special and perhaps bittersweet for Ackles, as his show, “Supernatural”, now in its 15th and final season, is set in the town of Lawrence, Kansas. Having never been to Kansas before, Ackles made sure to visit Lawrence while in the Sunflower State.
