Camila Mendes says she needed a major glow-up to land the role of Veronica Lodge on “Riverdale”.

During a stop at “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert”, the actress tells the host about her audition day and the notes she got back from the casting director.

“I remember it being a very stressful day,” she recalls. “I was 30 minutes late for the audition and I was, like, the very last person that they were seeing and I managed to squeeze in an audition. My hair was frizzy, it was a rainy day.”

Despite the rain and her tardiness, the 25-year-old nailed her audition but was told to get “glossy” and come back.

“‘You’re a little matte right now,'” Mendes says she was told. “‘At CW, we’re glossy. Like, you know, glossy lips, like cheeks are glowing.'”

Not a pro with the makeup brush, the actress called a friend to put her through glam boot-camp.

“It took a weekend of me doing a crash course on makeup. My friend did my makeup and made me look glowy, like I just came out of the womb,” she says.
