Helena Bonham Carter says she’s feeling grateful for all the good things happening in life.

In the newly unveiled December issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the actress, 53, stars – just days after receiving the British Icon at the magazine’s Women of the Year Awards – and chatted about her new role as Princess Margaret in Netflix’s “The Crown” and her other, newer role as a girlfriend.

Bonham Carter joined season three of the critically acclaimed series as the real-life princess, a role which the Oscar nominee says she’s always dreamed of.

“I wanted to do her justice,” she said. “If someone does, as people said, behave rudely, there’s always a reason. It usually means that they’re unhappy.”

And there is even a personal connection from Bonham Carter to the royal.

“She was a lifelong friend of my uncle Mark. He was in the Grenadiers, I think, and he guarded Margaret and Elizabeth at Windsor. And then they met, and I think there was a romance. He was really dashing,” she explained.

And Bonham Carter and Princess Margaret have even met, “Margaret was on her own with a drink in her hand and she talked to me. She said, ‘Oh, Helena, you are getting better, aren’t you, at acting.'”

She added, “Typical Margaret!”

But as she enters her new role in “The Crown”, Bonham Carter is still adjusting to her life as an ex-wife and now girlfriend.

The “Harry Potter” alum and her ex-husband Tim Burton split in 2014 after 13-years and two children.

“You break up, you grieve, you get bored of grieving, and then you finally move on,” she told the mag. “I’m very happy with someone else. It’s been a bit of unexpected magic in my life.”

Now she’s 53 and the happiest she’s ever been.

‘When I turned 50, I worried it was downhill all the way,” Bonham Carter recalled. “But it’s quite the opposite. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier or more fulfilled. This huge blooming of television means character-driven stories, so there’s a lot of choice and a lot of work. When I was young, you were considered ‘older’ over 30.”
