The same day 44th U.S. President Barack Obama challenged politically-woke activism, T.I. took aim at cancel culture.

T.I. appeared on Tuesday’s episode of “Tamron Hall”. The artist known as Tip told Hall that cancel culture is popular because it is “convenient.”

“All this cancel culture, I think it’s fake,” the “Whatever You Like” rapper exclaimed. “Like Jay-Z said, ‘first they hate you, then they love you, then they hate you again.” Tip was referencing lyrics from Hov’s “Meet the Parents”.

“You’ll keep wearing Gucci but you’ll cancel Kanye [West],” he said, in reference to the Gucci blackface sweater controversy.

Tip said he does not agree with West’s political views but argued, “it’s easier to tear a black man down because another black man will help you.”

Obama also touched on the issue at an Obama Foundation event on Tuesday: “That’s not bringing about change. If all you’re doing is casting stones, you’re probably not going to get that far.”
