Luke Combs is getting fans excited for the release of his sophomore album What You See Is What You Get.
On Monday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, the 29-year-old country singer was in attendance to chat all about his new record, his original career path, and his upcoming first-ever stadium show.
Combs, who dropped out of college to pursue a career in country music, reveals he originally wanted to be a homicide detective.
“People are pretty surprised by that a lot of the times. But if you’ve noticed, I don’t actually have the physical build of a police officer,” he tells Kimmel. “It’s a puzzle that has no pieces, so you make the pieces and have to put them together and that’s what I love so much about making music.”

Along with the release of his new album, the “Beautiful Crazy” singer will be returning to college for his first-ever headlining stadium show at his alma mater, Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.
And when asked if any of his old teachers or classmates will be attending the show, Combs confesses: “I mean, probably not, just cuz I wasn’t in class a lot.”
With his upcoming milestone, Combs also looks back on his road to fame, working two jobs, and performing his first gig at the bar where he worked as a bouncer.
“I charged a dollar a ticket and made $200, that was more money than I made at both of my jobs that week.”
The Boone, NC., native also gives two flawless performances of his hits “Even Though I’m Leaving”, which was featured on his EP The Prequel, and “1,2 Many”, his latest release off What You See Is What You Get.
“1, 2 Many” is a follow up to his summer anthem “Beer Never Broke My Heart”, which marked the singer’s sixth consecutive No. 1 single on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
What You See Is What You Get hits shelves and streaming services on November 8.
