Kanye West made some bizarre comments at the annual Fast Company Innovation Festival in Manhattan on Thursday, while wife Kim Kardashian sat in the audience.

Both West and Kardashian made the surprise appearance at the festival, but the rapper’s remarks have people talking.

West joined shoe designer Steven Smith and Fast Company writer Mark Wilson at the event to talk about his fashion brand, Yeezy, and how it brings jobs to the United States – which according to West, will help him in his 2024 run for U.S. President.

His statement was met with laughter, which wasn’t funny to the star: “What y’all laughing at?”

Kardashian and West stepped out in New York City to attend the festival which puts a spotlight on the “thousands of makers and innovators from across the globe – exceptional leaders and doers shaping the future – for five days of inspired conversation, purposeful networking, and meaningful takeaways.”

But West’s declaration about his possible run for president wasn’t the only odd thing making headlines out of the event.

“With very little context, Kanye just said he might legally change his name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West,” Kevin J. Ryan, a writer for Inc. magazine, tweeted from the event.

Another reporter, Stephanie N. Mehta, quoted West as saying, “Yeezy is the Apple of apparel.”

The annual Fast Company Innovation Festival runs in NYC from Nov. 4 to 8.
