Smoke ’em if you got ’em to celebrate the return of “Weeds”, the latest long-gone TV series to be brought back due to the endless demand for new content in the era of peak TV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, star Mary-Louise Parker is onboard to reprise the role of soccer mom-turned-drug lord Nancy Botwin in a new iteration of the series; she’ll also serve as executive producer.

Tentatively dubbed “Weeds 4.20”, the new sequel will focus on Parker’s character 10 years later, in an era where marijuana has since been legalized in numerous U.S. states.

As THR reports, the new “Weeds” won’t be airing on its original home, Showtime; instead, the series will run on Starz, which is owned by Lionsgate, producer of the original.

“We’re thrilled to be back in business with series star and executive producer Mary-Louise Parker on what we’re calling ‘Weeds 4.20’, already in active development at Starz, as we prepare a comprehensive and integrated rollout for one of television’s most beloved properties,” said Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer when he announced the sequel during the company’s quarterly earnings call on Thursday.

Victoria Morrow, a writer and co-executive producer on the original, will be returning as exec producer and writer; series creator/showrunner Jenji Kohan (who went on to create Netflix hit “Orange Is the New Black”) is reportedly “not involved at the moment.”
