Paul Rudd Almost Pranked Conan O’Brien With A ‘Baby Geniuses’ Scene Instead Of ‘Mac And Me’

By Shakiel Mahjouri.

Paul Rudd is locked and loaded with a prank every time he appears on “Conan”.

Rudd recently joined Conan O’Brien on the latter’s “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast. The “Living With Yourself” actor explained the origin of the “Mac and Me” prank he pulls on O’Brien on the regular.

For the uninitiated, every time Rudd appears on “Conan” to promote a movie, he swaps out a teaser clip with the same one scene from the widely panned 1988 comedy “Mac and Me”. The film has been labelled an “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” rip-off that is basically a McDonald’s commercial.

Rudd, 50, told O’Brien he almost picked a scene from 1999’s family comedy “Baby Geniuses” instead.

“There’s a scene where a baby — I want to say they have this super baby in a lab, I don’t know — and he escapes,” Rudd said. “This team of thugs are trying to track him down, trying to get this baby, and then they cut to the baby fighting a group of men and it’s clearly a stunt little person just beating up these guys.”

“I assume the budget was so low that there was this one maniacal laugh that the kid makes and every time in the movie, they just use the same laugh,” he continued. “You hear it a hundred times.”
