Jimmy Fallon Surprises Air Force Veteran With $50,000 In Emotional ‘Tonight Show’ Segment

Jimmy Fallon had the best surprise for one Air Force veteran during Monday’s “Tonight Show”.

Fallon told viewers about how the Home Depot Foundation had started a contest this year called Operation Surprise.

He shared, “People all across the country get to nominate a U.S. military veteran in need, and the winner gets $25,000 to go towards critical home repairs.”

“It’s a great thing, and I’m happy to say that the winner of this year’s Operation Surprise contest is here with us tonight.”

Fallon then surprised the emotional winner, Vernita Love, who is now retired but had previously served 26 years in the Air Force. The talk-show host also confirmed the show would be doubling the prize fund to $50,000.

Fallon had previously announced “The Tonight Show” would also be donating $150,000 to Fisher House Foundation, a charity that “provides housing for families of military and veterans while their loved one is receiving treatment.”
