Fans are getting their first look at “The Walking Dead” star Christian Serratos as the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in the new Netflix series about her life and career.
A coming-of-age drama series, “Selena: The Series” will follow the singer’s journey to success. In the video, Serratos styles herself like Selena, donning red lipstick and a sparkly jumpsuit while flipping through pages of the script before taking the stage.
The 12-episode Netflix series will be split into two parts, with the first six episodes arriving next year. Production began on the project last month.
In 1995, Selena was tragically shot and killed at age 23 by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The story of her life was most famously brought to the screen in 1997 in the family-sanctioned biopic “Selena” starring Jennifer Lopez in one of her first leading roles.
