Meghan Markle reportedly invited Hillary Clinton over to Frogmore Cottage earlier this week after she voiced her support for the duchess during an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.

According to the Daily Mail, Clinton got to cuddle 6-month-old Archie and meet Prince Harry on Tuesday, with a source saying: “Both women have a lot of admiration for each other and it was a very sweet, warm meeting,” adding: “They are mutual fan girls!”

This isn’t the first time Meghan has contacted Clinton, with her previously writing to her at age 11 when Clinton’s husband, Bill, was in the White House. She wanted help getting a “sexist” advertisement for dishwasher soap taken off the screens.

The meeting comes after Clinton was asked whether she thought race was involved when it comes to the harsh treatment from the British press and the public that Meghan has had to endure.

The politician insisted, “I think even if you go back and look at social media from the time the engagement was announced, race was clearly an element in it.”

Clinton added, “To think that some of your — what we would call, mainstream — media actually allowed that to be printed in their pages, or amplified, was heartbreaking and wrong.

“She is an amazing young woman, she has an incredible life story. She has stood up for herself, she has made her own way in the world. And then she falls in love, and he falls in love with her, and everybody should be celebrating that because it is a true love story.”

Clinton, who has been busy promoting her and daughter Chelsea’s new book The Book Of Gutsy Women, went on: “I feel as a mother I just want to put my arms around her. Oh my God, I want to hug her. I want to tell her to hang in there, don’t let those bad guys get you down.”
