Miranda Lambert is celebrating her happiest year yet.
Gracing the cover of Health magazine’s December 2019 issue, the country superstar gets candid about her public divorce from Blake Shelton and finding love again with new husband Brendan McLoughlin.
Fresh off the release of her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Miranda admits Wildcard is much more joyful than her previous record.
“My last album was kind of a sepia tone, and I mean that emotionally as well. This record’s got some color, pizzazz, and pump to it.”
With more playful and happy songs, the singer has definitely shaken off the emotional gravity of her sixth album The Weight of These Wings, which arrived just one year after her divorce from Shelton.
And with seven studio albums under her belt, the singer admits she’s always wanted her music to stay true to whom she is.
“I’m pretty honest in my music. Who you’re talking to is the same person that’s onstage,” the 36-year-old singer tells Health.
Lambert’s whirlwind romance with her now-husband, N.Y.P.D. officer Brendan McLoughlin, came just a few years after her split from Shelton in 2015, following four years of marriage.
“I feel like I’ve been through enough in my life to know what I don’t want. So when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up,” Lambert says of meeting McLoughlin, whom she met, thanks to her Pistol Annies bandmates.
After struggling with her divorce being in the public eye, Lambert just wants people to pay attention to what’s most important: her music.
“When everyone’s worried about your personal life, it makes you feel like, ‘Well if you could just spend some of that time talking about my actual art, that would be great,’” she tells the magazine. “But I guess I asked for it, getting into this business. I’m never gonna get used to the public eye in that way.”
The December issue of Health hits newsstands November 15.
