Michael Shannon has a very special gift for “Jammy” Fallon.
Appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” while wearing an “Alvin And The Chipmunks” red onesie on Monday, the actor reveals he brought one along for the host, who pulls his own matching onesie out of a bag to cheers.
“The last time I was here, you asked me how I get ready to go on stage and I said I listen to my ‘Alvin And The Chipmunks’ records in the dressing room and you said, ‘You should come over to my house sometime and we’ll watch ‘Alvin And The Chipmunks’ and put on our ‘Alvin And The Chipmunks’ onesies,” he explains as Fallon laughs.
Revealing the people behind “Alvin And The Chipmunks” sent him two onesies, Shannon had to bring one for Fallon. “That’s power,” he adds.
“I have one of those lives where every day is like a dream come true,” Shannon says as Fallon buttons his onesie. “I never thought in a million years when I was a kid playing in the creek behind my house in Kentucky when I was 5 that I would someday be on a late-night talk show and force a very famous man to put an ‘Alvin And The Chipmunks’ shirt on,” he says, adding, “That’s an accomplishment.”
Not to let the special-occasion attire go to waste, Shannon suggests he and Fallon wrestle while discussing his other film, “The Current War”.
“You’re too old for this,” Shannon jokes, as both men continue the interview out of breath.
“Knives Out” opens in theatres on November 27.
