Disney’s live-action remake of its beloved animated hit “Lady and the Tramp” debuted on Tuesday via Disney+ as the long-awaited streaming service finally launched.
Along with the new movie comes a whole new soundtrack, with modern artists recording the songs from the 1955 classic.
Among these is the song “He’s a Tramp”, which has been rerecorded by Janelle Monae, putting her own spin on the track originally recorded by Peggy Lee.

Monae doesn’t just sing for the new film; she also provides the voice of a Pekinese named Peg, part of a voice cast that includes Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux as, respectively, Lady and the Tramp, in addition to Sam Elliott, Ashley Jensen, Benedict Wong, and Clancy Brown.
The “Lady and the Tramp” soundtrack also includes a new song, “What a Shame”, written specially for the remake to replace the original’s “The Siamese Cat Song”, which, when listened to with modern ears, now seems more than a little racist. Listen below:
