Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be spending Christmas away from Sandringham, ET Canada can confirm.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to soon take a six-week break and travel to the U.S. to be with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland for Thanksgiving.

Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement Wednesday that this would also be where the new family would be spending Christmas.

The message read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.”

“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria.”

Harry has spent all his Christmases with the royal family at the Queen’s Norfolk home, minus 2012 when he headed to Afghanistan.

The news comes after sources told the Sun that Harry and Meghan would not be spending 6-month-old Archie’s first Christmas with Her Majesty.
