Little Big Town is showing their “Girl Crush” for country music’s up-and-coming female artists.
During the 53rd annual CMA Awards, Kelsea Ballerini took to the stage to perform a stripped-down version of her emotional new single “Homecoming Queen?”, which perfectly segued into an all-female performance of Little Big Town’s 2014 hit “Girl Crush”.
This year’s show is celebrating the legacy of women within country music, so it was only fitting Little Big Town use the moment to showcase country music’s next generation of women.
The group invited Maddie & Tae, Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Runaway June and Canada’s own Lindsay Ell to share the stage in performing the ballad.
The female-focused night also included a history-making opening performance, which saw 11 women performing iconic country songs from artists including Tanya Tucker, Gretchen Wilson, Dolly Parton and more.
