Taron Egerton didn’t fall for “Watch What Happens Live”‘s attempt at throwing shade.
The actor, 30, joined Andy Cohen on Thursday’s episode of the late-night talk show when the “Rocketman” star was asked about fellow critically acclaimed music biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Egerton showed off his singing chops as Elton John in the blockbuster “Rocketman”. Egerton, his singing and the film received raved reviews. Rami Malek starred in 2018’s Freddie Mercury biopic and although he did not sing, he walked away with a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar.
When asked about his thought on Malek not using his real voice, Egerton said he loved the film regardless.
“Since you sang all of your own songs in ‘Rocketman’, what did you think about Rami Malek not always singing by himself in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’?” a caller asked.
And while many expected some shade, Egerton kept his response short and sweet, “I think it’s a beautiful performance by an incredible young man.”
Both “Rocketman” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” are available to stream now.
