Kacey Musgraves Shares Throwback Video Of Her 9-Year-Old Self Singing ‘Rainbow Connection’

It was a full-circle moment for Kacey Musgraves at the 53rd annual CMA Awards.

After winning Music Video of the Year, the country queen took the stage alongside her idol Willie Nelson for a flawless collaboration of “Rainbow Connection”, a song from the 1979 film “The Muppet Movie”.

A few days following the awards show, the Female Vocalist of the Year winner shared an old clip of her nine-year-old self performing the same song, with the caption “nothing’s changed.”

In the three-minute video, a young Musgraves delivers an adorable cover of the classic hit, giving fans a sneak peek at what would follow in the years to come.

 

After her performance, the crowd cheers on the adorable nine-year-old, while one woman joins her on stage to praise her talent: “Doesn’t she have a beautiful voice? I love your voice!”

Originally sung by Kermit the Frog, “Rainbow Connection” took home Best Original Song at the Academy Awards in 1980 and was featured on Nelson’s 49th studio album of the same name.
