Most kids don’t learn to drive until they are at least 16, but in the case of Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard’s daughters, their father wants to get a head start on teaching them how to drive a motorcycle.
Bell and Shepard are parents to Lincoln, 6, and Delta, 4, but Lincoln has already been prepped by her father since she was three years old.
While speaking on Kevin Nealon’s “Hiking With Kevin”, Kristen Bell told the “SNL” alum that her husband is teaching their daughter to ride a motorcycle despite the “Frozen” star’s concerns.
“[Dax] said to me, ‘I want you to know why I’m doing this because when she’s 16 and she’s got a boyfriend who rides a motorcycle, there is not a girl who rides well in the world that would get on the back of a boyfriend’s motorcycle. If she rides, she’s gonna want to either ride her own or he’s gonna be on the back,'” Bell said.
Shepard then continued to tell Bell, “‘I want to know that she has the training from me and the wherewithal to do it. I don’t want her on the back of some 16-year-old bozo who doesn’t know how to drive so I will give her the skills that she needs to be cautious and prepared and that way we know she’s in charge and not at the whim of some 16-year-old who just got his licence.’”
Part of the reason Bell puts so much trust in Shepard is that he has been “riding since he was three.”
“I don’t want to let my fears overcome me,” Bell added, “but I try to assess it with logic. The facts are, he has been riding since he was three years old, he is actually a better driver in a car or a motorcycle going 80 on a racetrack than I am doing 30 on a side street. That is a fact, our insurance companies will tell you as much.”
