Stephen Colbert has a great idea for a new “Lord of the Rings” spin-off, and he’s got the perfect person to star in it: himself.

On Thursday’s “The Late Show” on Global, the host played a segment he did with director Peter Jackson while visiting New Zealand, bringing up his cameo in “The Hobbit” series.

“What if we spun off my character Lake-Town Spy into his own series of trilogies?” Colbert pitched to Jackson. “What about this for a backstory: my character is actually Aragorn’s slightly hotter twin brother Darrylgorn?

“Well, look…uhhh….no,” Jackson said.

It was too late, though, as Colbert had already put together a trailer for the spin-off.

“Legends told that Aragorn had an even more ruggedly handsome identical twin and who might that be? Guys come on, it’s me! I am Darrylgorn,” he says in the trailer.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
