A few weeks back, Justin Timberlake, Alisha Wainwright and fellow “Palmer” co-stars headed out to a bar in New Orleans, where Timberlake and Wainwright were spotted holding hands at one point.
In pictures obtained by the Sun, Timberlake and Wainwright were touching each other but a source has confirmed to ET Canada that it was all “innocent.”
“There was a group of people hanging out together,” the insider said. “Justin and Alisha are just friends, the evening was innocent.”
“She was just concerned for his well-being,” they added.
Video obtained by the tabloid shows Timberlake, who appears to be inebriated, being told that he should go home.
“At the end of night, he went home by himself,” the insider confirmed.
A rep for Wainwright issued a statement, telling Just Jared, “There is no validity to this speculation. They are currently working on a project together. Members of the cast and crew were all together.”
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, Timberlake finally broke his silence, issuing a statement via Instagram.
“I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumours that are hurting the people I love,” he began.
“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my co-star,” Timberlake continued.
“I drank way too much that night and I regret my behaviour,” he added. “I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son.”
He concluded by apologizing to wife Jessica Biel and his family “for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be.”
Timberlake is in the Big Easy filming “Palmer”, about a college football star who returns to his hometown after serving time in prison.
The singer has been married to Biel since 2012. They share son Silas, 4.
