Carrie Underwood did not expect to receive two awards at once during the 2019 American Music Awards.
As the 36-year-old country star took the stage to accept her award for Favourite Country Album for her 2018 record Cry Pretty, presenter Cobie Smulders revealed there was a “surprise” for her.
A shocked Underwood looked relieved once told she was getting another award for Favourite Female Country Artist.
Before thanking her family, the singer thanked God for the gifts and talent he gives people.
“Not just the people up on stage tonight, for every single person. We all have gifts and I hope we use them to make the world a better place.”
She continued to praise her two sons and husband Mike Fisher after supporting her on her six-month-long “Cry Pretty Tour 360” that just wrapped up in October.
“It was hard but it was amazing and you guys are my whole world so I love you so much, mommy loves you,” gushed Underwood.
