A Florida teenager got the chance of a lifetime when he was invited on stage to play drums with the Killers.
During the band’s performance at the Riptide Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, 17-year-old Jayson Verebay caught the eye of lead singer Brandon Flowers by holding up a hand-made sign, asking to play drums on stage.
Rolling Stone writer Tim Chan caught the moment on camera, sharing a video of Flowers picking Verebay out of the crowd and taking Ronnie Vannucci Jr.’s place behind the drum kit.
As the band performs “For Reasons Unknown”, the teen absolutely slays the drums while Flowers smiles as the crowd cheers along.
Chan spoke with Verebay after his performance, which he called “the most mind-boggling experience ever.”
“This is something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time,” Verebay said, calling Vannucci Jr one of his heroes. “It was the most incredible experience and I’m still speechless.”
