Helena Bonham Carter spoke about the time she drunkenly asked Prince William to be her child’s godfather during an appearance on Tuesday’s “Watch What Happens Live”.
Carter told a caller, “I wasn’t that drunk!” but admitted she was “drunk enough for me not to drink anymore.”
The actress, who is currently starring as Princess Margaret in “The Crown” season 3, added that Prince William “wasn’t totally sober himself.”
She also said she’d used up all her friends on her first child.
Carter shared, “Billy had 11 godparents. I thought I could make up for it [for] Nell, who you know suddenly came along and we didn’t have any left. I thought, well if I get Prince William, that would cover [it].”
However, despite the generous offer, William insisted she wouldn’t want him as a godfather, and in the end it didn’t work out.
Carter was also asked about the backlash Meghan Markle has been facing.
She insisted, “I don’t pay attention to it and I wish she wouldn’t have to.”
