As anyone who uses Twitter has no doubt noticed, it can be a dark, bitter abyss to spew bile and rage.
But the social media platform can also be a place to share joy and happiness, and that’s the direction Tom Hanks has decided to take in his latest venture: reading positive tweets that are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
The premise is this: internationally recognized nice guy Tom Hanks reads nice tweets tweeted by nice people.
“Hey, I’m Tom Hanks and I’m going to read some of the nicest tweets on the internet,” says Hanks as begins, starting with one reading, “I worked at McDonalds for two and a half years and put 11 nuggets in almost every 10 piece I made.”
“That is a man who is not only being nice,” Hanks pointed out, “but he’s feeding the world a little bit better and bucking the corporate strategy.”
Another tweet concerned someone riding on a train sitting next to someone who was watching “The Office” and listening via headphones, and when realizing his fellow passenger was watching along, turned on the subtitles.
“That’s a nice thing that guy did,” quipped Hanks, “because who doesn’t like to read along with ‘The Office’?”
