Carrie Underwood Fans Were Disappointed She Didn’t Open U.S. Thanksgiving Day Football Game

Carrie Underwood fans were not happy to find out the country star did not record an opening intro for NBC’s football game that aired on Thanksgiving Day in the United States.

The network previously announced Underwood “has the holiday off,” so she was replaced by fellow country act Zac Brown Band for Thursday’s broadcast.

The Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints’ match-up saw the group performing their 2008 hit “Chicken Fried”.

“Hey America. It’s Zac Brown here with the Zac Brown Band. We’re getting set up for the perfect Thanksgiving,” said Brown in an NBC promo. “We’ve got food, we’ve got family, we’ve got football, and we’ve got our guitars. Because we’re getting ready to cook up a little tune for everyone to jam to.”

But despite the intriguing promo, Zac Brown Band’s performance was a disappointment to many fans who enjoy watching the “Cry Pretty” hitmaker sing “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night”.
