Following their 2015 collaboration with Kanye West, Rihanna and Paul McCartney reunited on Friday — not onstage or in a recording studio, but in the First Class compartment of a passenger jet.
During the flight, reports the Daily Mail, Sir Paul walked over to RiRi’s seat in order to say hi, and she filmed the encounter.
“I’m about to put you on blast Mr. McCartney,” she tells him, as he joked, “Who is this filming me?”
“Who is this peasant filming this legend?” she responded.
McCartney and Rihanna teamed up with West for their 2015 track “FourFiveSeconds”, which the trio performed live at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
The three also reunited onstage the following year, with Rihanna and Yeezy joining McCartney to perform the song during his headlining set at Desert trip, a.k.a. “Old-cella,” the two-weekend music festival that also featured such long-in-the-tooth rockers as Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones.
In a 2018 interview with DIY, McCartney shared the story of how “FourFiveSeconds” came to be.
“We ended up just talking a lot,” he said of working with West and Rihanna. “I played a few little things and one of them ended up as ‘FourFiveSeconds’ with Rihanna. It’s more a question of me feeling lucky that these people are interested [in working with me] and think that I can bring something to it. For me, I feel great. I like diversity.”
