On the heels of “The Prince and the Epstein Scandal”, Virginia Roberts Giuffre along with the four other women that are suing Jeffrey Epstein’s estate want Prince Andrew to step forward and provide testimony in their case.
BBC Panorama reported that pre-trial witness subpoenas have been prepared for the prince and could be served to him if he enters the United States. A judge would have to sign-off on them once Prince Andrew lands on U.S. soil.
The lawyer for the five women, David Boies, told BBC, “One of the things that we have tried is to interview Prince Andrew and to try to get what his explanation is. He was a frequent visitor. They ought to submit to an interview. They ought to talk about it”.
Lawyers have reportedly written to Prince Andrew twice with no response.
The now famous photo of Andrew and Roberts is also brought up. He has denied that he ever met her with palace sources claiming the photo is fake.
Roberts said that she provided the original to the FBI in 2011. Even Michael Thomas, a freelance photographer who made the first copy of the picture, confirms he is sure it is genuine.
Thomas said, “It wasn’t like she pulled the photo of Prince Andrew out, it was just in amongst the rest of them. These were 5×7 photos that looked like they had come from Boots the chemist, nothing more complicated than that. They were just typical teenage snaps. There’s no way that photo is fake.”
The show examines the dozens of underage girls that went in and out of Epstein’s home to give naked massages.
Epstein’s former caretaker alleged that Andrew would stay at the Palm Beach house for weeks at a time and would have daily massages.
A number of new questions about Andrew’s relationship with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were also raised, including the number of times that the two were invited to the royal palaces, Princess Beatrice’s birthday and Royal Ascot – but Andrew declined to further answer any questions.
Royal Communications did provide the following statement: “The Duke of York unequivocally regrets his ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein’s suicide left many unanswered questions, particularly for his victims. The Duke deeply sympathizes with those affected who want some form of closure. It is his hope that, in time, they will be able to rebuild their lives. The Duke is willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required. The Duke has already stated that he did not see, witness or suspect any behaviour of the sort that subsequently led to Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest and conviction. He deplores the exploitation of any human being and would not condone, participate in, or encourage any such behaviour.”
They added another statement about Roberts: “It is emphatically denied that The Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts. Any claim to the contrary is false and without foundation.”
Further evidence discovered by Panorama included emails from 2015 between Maxwell and Prince Andrew where they talk about Roberts.
“Let me know when we can talk. Got some specific questions to ask you about Virginia Roberts,” Andrew writes.
Maxwell responded, “Have some info. Call me when you have a moment.”
Panorama does ask Roberts if she has ever got any dates right such as claiming that she once met Andrew in New Mexico.
“Things do get fuzzy. So yeah, I might get dates wrong, I might even get places wrong but you never forget the face of someone who has heaved over you,” Roberts responded.
