Kacey Musgraves is making the rounds promoting her new Christmas special “The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show”.
The country star makes an appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to share all the details of the star-studded event, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 29.
Along with special guests Kendall Jenner, Camila Cabello, James Corden, Dan Levy, and Lana Del Rey, it was Musgraves’ grandmother whom she was most excited to have on the show.
“My nana, she is a guest, my actual grandma. She came from Texas to be on the special and she basically saves Christmas. So it’s really special.”
Not only does the singer have a lot to celebrate with her 2019 Grammy-winning album Golden Hour and her new TV special, she tells Ellen about lending her star power to help a struggling family-owned Los Angeles photo store.
Back in August, the singer shared a lengthy social media post to help bring new customers to Tom’s One Hour Photo & Lab, a photo shop with no social media presence.

We were just in LA and needed to find a One Hour Photo place quick. Sandwiched between little bodegas, my sister randomly found this place on Beverly Blvd in Korea Town called Tom’s One Hour Photo & Lab. It’s one of those rare mom-&-pop gems that has lasted thru trends coming and going and weirdly has come back around again without even realizing it. The owner, Tom, was SO adorable. He not only does film developing but (cheap) and nostalgic portrait sessions too. (He gave us digital files and we edited these but he’ll shoot on film if you ask him to.) Pick your favorite background! He made them all himself. 🥰 It’s cash only and he has no internet. He sadly told us his business used to be really busy back in 1991 when he opened but has slowed way down since the digital wave. So, like any good millennials would do we started an appreciation Instagram for him. @tomsonehourphotolab 🌹 Not sure he’ll even see this. Stop by, tell all your friends, and don’t forget to tag. Let’s keep this charming business afloat! #TomsOneHourPhoto
“The place is amazing. It’s been there for 30 years,” she tells Ellen. “He does walk-in portrait sessions and you can pick your own background and it’s just very nostalgic.”
After boosting the business with her social media campaign, Musgraves also started an Instagram account for the store after the owner admitted business was slow.
“It was inspiring to see such a hard worker, his business has stood the test of time, but we were like, ‘Tom, do you have an Instagram? We need to get your name out here.'”
Thanks to Musgraves’ social media efforts, the business and its Instagram account have skyrocketed, with more than 87,000 followers since its launch.
“I just felt like my generation would genuinely appreciate his business,” she explains. “Since then, he’s had these news stories and his business hasn’t stopped, it’s completely flooded.”
Also during her appearance, Musgraves took the stage to perform her new holiday song “Christmas Makes Me Cry” which is featured on The Kacey Musgraves Show soundtrack.
