Jordan Fisher is heading back to Broadway.

The actor, 25, is set to take on the role of Evan Hansen in the Tony Award-winning hit Dear Evan Hansen, starting in the New Year.

In a statement, Fisher gushed about fulfilling a dream with this new gig, “Evan Hansen is a 16-course meal for an actor. The complexity of this boy is akin to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in my opinion.”

Fisher added, “I doubt I’ll ever forget the first time I sat in the Music Box to see it, and the idea of being a part of that memory for others is mind-blowing. I’m so honoured to join this amazing company.”

The already iconic role was made famous by Ben Platt, who went on to win Best Actor in a Musical at the Tony Awards in 2017.

“Dear Evan Hansen” follows anxious high schooler Evan Hansen, who writes himself a letter that is mistaken for a classmate’s suicide note. But in the world driven by social media, Evan’s letter wrongly propels himself into the popular crowd and quickly becomes a viral sensation.

Fisher made his Broadway debut in Lin Manuel Miranda’s megahit Hamilton. He’s also had starring roles in both Fox Network’s “Grease: Live” and “Rent: Live”, he won the 25th season of “Dancing With The Stars” and will appear in Netflix’s upcoming “To All The Boys I Loved Before” sequel.
