Taron Egerton and Elton John’s friendship has continued to blossom since working together on “Rocketman”.
And as award season buzz surrounds the biopic and Egerton’s portrayal of the music icon, the actor, 30, stopped by to chat with SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham on “The Jess Cagle Show” and spilled on their relationship and the drag name John gave Egerton.
“My partner Emily and I went and stay with them [John and his husband David Furnish] at their place in France when they were on vacation this summer and he gave me it then,” Egerton recalled. “So my name is Blodwyn, which is a Welsh and my surname is Campervan… he is very very thoughtful and really thinks things through.”
He also explained the reason behind John’s choice, “I have a campervan that I spend a lot of time in and he finds that very funny for some reason.”
And Blodwyn Campervan even made an appearance during their holiday.
“One night after he’d gone to bed, I stole his Polaroid camera and wore some of my girlfriend’s clothes and did a little photoshoot,” he laughed. “And I sort of left it there in the kitchen for them. It was my vision for Blodwyn Campervan.”
“Rocketman” is available for streaming now.
