Elle and Dakota Fanning are set to act opposite each other for the first time ever.
On Wednesday it was announced that the real life sisters will play the fictional sisters at the heart of the upcoming film “The Nightingale”, based on the novel by Kristin Hannah, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
In a post on Instagram, Elle explained that while she and Dakota have played the same character at different ages in a movie, they have never “spoken to each other in front of a camera.”
The film tells the story of sisters coming of age in France as WWII breaks out and the country comes under German occupation. The novel was inspired by real life women in the French Resistance who helped Allied airmen escape the Nazi-occupied territory and hid Jewish children.
Melanie Laurent will direct the film from a script by Dana Stevens.
